Gallery Walls in homes have become a bit of a trend and while they do look utterly amazing if done right, nothing truly beats that one, magnificent statement piece of artwork. The hero of the room.
Gallery walls are cool, no doubt, but the sheer number of artworks in one area can not only look untidy or cluttered, it can send the brain boggling. There is no focus, nowhere to settle the eye or mind. The artworks are not able to be appreciated for all of their original glory, or speak their truth clearly when one is shouting over the next over the next over the next to be seen and be beholden.
If you truly love an artwork, make it the hero in your space. There is no better way to bring personality and unique energy into a room like an incredibly beautiful bold piece of art.
How do you go about displaying statement art?
1. Firstly, LOVE the art you buy. The artwork will energetically reflect your unique character ten fold if you buy the art you love, not the art that will simply do well for the space.
2. Be careful not to clutter your space with too much stuff (in design and/or trinkets). Less is more.
3. Scale! Be sure the artwork is sizeable in relation to the wall it is supported against or proportional to the furniture it is hanging above or sitting upon, and also in lieu of the room itself.
4. Your artwork should be hung or sat at the average adult eye level. You want to walk into the room and BOOM! there it is, without having to tilt your head up or down to gain perspective.
Of course these are just guidelines 🤷🏻♀️there really are no steadfast rules. But it may be of help if you've no idea where to begin.
Be bold, be sexy, be fierce, and make art your hero!
